Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay – Keeping Families CloseCouple holding their two young children

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay (RMHC-TB) provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with children receiving medical treatment in bay area hospitals.

Our organization is comprised of four Houses, three in St. Petersburg, and one in Tampa, offering a total of 80 bedrooms with private baths. We are owned and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay, a non-profit Florida corporation whose Board of Trustees consist of parents, leaders, McDonald’s Owner-Operators, McDonald’s Corporation staff, medical professionals and other interested individuals in the community.

Many families travel far from home to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. The treatment may last a day, a month, or even longer. It’s a long time to be away from home, or to divide a family.

Ronald McDonald House offers families a way to stay together, in proximity to the treatment hospital, and be comfortable and cared for during their stay.

Allow Families to Face the Weight of Illness Together

Families are stronger when they are together, which helps in the healing process. By staying at a Ronald McDonald House, parents also can better communicate with their child’s medical team and keep up with complicated treatment plans when needed.

Allow Children to Get the Best Care

When your child is sick, you want the best care possible – even if it is hundreds or thousands of miles away.  Ronald McDonald House allows families to access specialized medical treatment by providing a place to stay at little or sometimes no cost.

Services for Families

At every House, families can enjoy:

  • Prepared Meals – home-cooked in our kitchens by community groups, or generously donated by local restaurants
  • Private bedrooms & bathrooms
  • Playrooms for children
  • Computer rooms
  • Fully-equipped laundry rooms
  • Caring volunteers & staff
  • Free Wi-Fi

The generosity of volunteers and donors make it all possible. Although families are asked to donate towards their stay, no payment is mandatory, and no one is ever turned away due to inability to contribute.
